Easthampton Petitions the Central Committee for Additional Liquor Distribution Permits

The People’s Legislature has received HD.6120, a local-approval bill that would authorize the issuance of additional liquor licenses in the city of Easthampton — licenses the municipality currently cannot grant because the Commonwealth Soviet’s statutory caps say no.

Delegate Homar Gómez, representing the 2nd Hampshire district, filed the petition on behalf of Easthampton’s commercial interests. As with all such local licensing decrees, the bill requires approval from both the People’s Legislature and the municipality itself before any new permits may flow. The direct beneficiaries are prospective license holders — restaurants, bars, or retail establishments — who have been turned away by the existing quota system.

The bill carries no fiscal note and imposes no new contributions to the collective. It asks only that the Central Committee acknowledge that Easthampton has run out of room under the existing license ceiling and grant the city permission to issue more. This is a routine administrative adjustment, which is to say it will almost certainly languish in committee for eighteen months.

Decree Rating: ☭ — Ideologically inert. A city needs more liquor licenses. The apparatus must be consulted.
