Politburo Moves to Protect One Worker’s Leave Balance, Specifically This One, By Name

The People’s Legislature is considering HD.6148, a bill that would establish a dedicated sick leave bank for Mark Giampa, an employee of the Massachusetts Department of Correction — one worker, named in full, in the title of the legislation.

Sponsored by Commissar Marcus S. Vaughn, Representative from Wrentham, the bill follows a well-worn tradition in the Commonwealth Soviet: when standard administrative channels cannot accommodate a worker facing serious illness or extended medical leave, the Politburo intervenes by statute. Colleagues donate leave hours into the bank; Giampa draws from it. The state bears no additional payroll cost beyond what is already owed to contributing employees.

The bill was referred to the House Committee on Rules on May 21, 2026, where such individual-relief measures are evaluated before proceeding to the full chamber. Dozens of similar decrees pass each session with little debate. The machinery of the collective exists, it turns out, to protect the individual — provided someone files the paperwork.

Decree Rating: ☭ — Bureaucracy functioning exactly as intended, for exactly one person.
