Commissar Howitt Proposes an End to Capitalist Price Deception in the People’s Marketplace

HD.6141, filed by Delegate Steven S. Howitt of the 4th Bristol district, would require businesses operating within the Commonwealth Soviet to display the full, final price of goods and services — inclusive of all fees — at the point of first advertisement, prohibiting the practice of revealing true costs only at the moment of transaction.

The decree benefits the consuming masses, who have long been subjected to resort fees, service charges, and convenience surcharges disclosed only after sufficient psychological investment in the purchase has been secured. The burden falls on any enterprise that has built its revenue model around the gap between the advertised number and the one on the receipt.

Howitt, who represents constituents in Rehoboth, Seekonk, and surrounding territories, advances this measure without co-sponsors on record — a solitary act of transparency advocacy in a Politburo not historically known for rushing such protections to the floor. The bill currently awaits committee assignment, where many such decrees find their permanent rest.

Decree Rating: ☭☭☭ — Ideologically sound; survival through committee is not guaranteed.
