Auditor DiZoglio Escalates Inter-Agency Conflict to Supreme Judicial Court as Relations with Comptroller Campbell Reach Documented Nadir

State Auditor Diana DiZoglio has referred her ongoing jurisdictional dispute with Comptroller William McNamara Campbell to the Supreme Judicial Court, the highest tribunal in the Commonwealth Soviet, after administrative efforts to resolve the conflict collapsed entirely. At issue is DiZoglio’s assertion of her constitutional authority to audit the Legislature itself — a body the Politburo has spent considerable energy insulating from external review. Campbell has declined to release legislative payroll records DiZoglio contends she is legally entitled to examine.

The dispute has now metastasized from a procedural disagreement into a structural confrontation between two independently elected apparatchiks over the fundamental question of who may inspect whom. DiZoglio, elected in 2022 on an explicit mandate to audit the Legislature, argues the Comptroller has no standing to obstruct her constitutional function. Campbell’s office has maintained the opposite. The SJC will now determine which commissar’s interpretation of separation of powers controls — a question the People’s Legislature has shown no appetite to resolve for itself.

What began as a records dispute has hardened into what Commonwealth Beacon describes as a relationship “at a nadir,” with no diplomatic back-channel remaining operational. The Central Committee, for its part, has declined to intervene, which is itself an intervention.

Propaganda Rating: ☭☭☭☭☭ — The People’s Legislature has spent years refusing to be audited; it took exactly one elected auditor and one Supreme Judicial Court filing to make that position constitutionally uncomfortable.
